Special Note from Lee Williams, SAF Investigative Journalism Project

August 1, 2022 By Dave Workman

One of the stories first reported by the SAF Investigative Journalis Project revealed UPS has issued new rules for shipping firearms, igniting a firestorm. (Shutterstock image)

The Second Amendment Foundation’s Investigative Journalism Project broke four national stories last month and we’re pretty proud of that.

  • On July 1 we revealed that UPS was cancelling gun dealers’ accounts and destroying packages in transit. The story prompted two follow-up stories. On July 5 we named the five anti-gun Senators who were behind UPS’ decision. On July 9, we published UPS’ new rules for shipping gun parts.
  • On July 12 we chronicled the arrest of a young Florida man, who was targeted by the FBI and ATF for a short-barreled rifle. His plight showcased the absurdity of the NFA.
  • On July 18 we revealed that ATF agents were conducting surprise firearm inspections of people’s homes without search warrants. The story prompted a pro-gun Congressman to ask ATF for an explanation.
  • On July 21 we were the first to reveal that LAPD had stopped enforcing California’s ban on standard-capacity magazines.

Each of these stories focused the public’s attention where it belongs – on those who would infringe upon our Second Amendment rights. We held anti-gun officials accountable and forced them to answer for their misdeeds. This is exactly why the SAF-IJP was created.

This type of pro-gun journalism is not easy nor is it cheap. Unlike the opposition, we do not accept funding from the government, Hollywood celebrities or anti-gun billionaires.

If you can help us continue the fight, please click here. We promise to remain good stewards of every dollar.

As always, thanks for your time,

Lee Williams
