The Future Of The Economy In Liberal States- A Game Of Attrition

February 10, 2026 By Conn Williamson

The whole notion of “if it happens in Vegas, it stays in Vegas” does not always apply to social morays defined by the geographic proximity of the Left coast, especially in states where conducting business is a challenge.

For the unfortunate residents of the People’s Republic of Washington, taxes continue to exponentially climb as Democratic lawmakers hold no regard for voters trapped within the state and exposed to radicalized policy radiating from Olympia. According to data analyzed and processed by The Association of Washington Business (AWB), Washington Roundtable, and Washington Research Council optimism is not high for the short-term outlook and financial fortunes of corporations and businesses based in the state. These projections are not ideal for residents already enduring exorbitant expenses spiking as a result of unstainable mandates and measures signed into law.

In the never-never land of identity politics and Democratic Socialism, West coast politicians identify as dictators and “term limits” are an epithet. The status quo of individuals who support the Ponzi scheme of increased taxes and grandfathered political legacies continue to admonish commonsense for the sake of political survival and ignoring the best interest of constituents. As the 2026 legislative session in Washington state drones on with all the subtlety of a self-driving vehicle colliding with a cadre of transgender activists protesting procreation, the model for the idiocy of big government has been borrowed from New Zealand where farmers and ranchers are subject to financial sanctions based on the Methane released into the atmosphere from herds of livestock.

Considering radicalized Liberal voting trends, Washington may as well implement a “breathing tax” burdening humans through the checkbook in charging an excise tax on those instinctively renewing their oxygen supply for basic survival. Amid this surreal political environment where anything detrimental is possible and flooded by lunacy, the economy of one of the most innovative states over the last forty years is threatened by stagnation, as corporations flee for the respite of tax havens and areas where law enforcement is embraced and criminals are actually held accountable for their actions with justice being dispensed by competent prosecutors.

Economists predict that Washington state businesses will endure a sharp drop in revenue as consumer confidence plumets and Leftist politicians continue to push an agenda that does not align with profits and perpetuates bureaucracy. Within this loony bin ecosystem bank accounts are vulnerable to fraud, and small businesses all the way up the ladder to major corporations face the possibility of extinction. Viewing this disturbing scenario from a logical perspective, big government and pork barrel politics pander to an ulterior motive that is damaging to the basic essence of entrepreneurship and ultimately costs society on a multitude of levels.

Under the reign of career politicians such as Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, and Governor Bob Ferguson, Amazon, Boeing, Microsoft, and Weyerhaeuser as well as smaller corporations in Washington are looking for or are in the process of relocating to business-friendly regions. As the cost-of-living skyrockets, intellectual property is exchanged for sensibility and jobs disappear in a no-win scenario. Combined with the emergence of the Gig economy the future looks bleak for progressive Blue states sucking the bone marrow dry in an insatiable lust for taxation. Of course, legions of the younger generation composed of ride share and “educated” delivery drivers are still on the hook for billions of dollars student loans and lack marketable vital critical thinking skills and competency to perform basic tasks resulting in complete irrelevance to the demands of the modern job market. With a dearth of employable candidates, the next decade could be a major challenge as there is a complete absence of political balance that only damages the economic fabric of the private sector that could spread across the nation like a pandemic.
