Homeless Encampments Are An Expression Of “Nomadic Spirituality”- Only In Seattle

April 17, 2018 By Conn Williamson

The homeless in the evergreen jewel of breathtaking natural wonders in the Pacific Northwest, have a Seattle problem.

Among the scattered feces, drug ties, needles and strewn detritus, protesters attempted to block city workers Tuesday from removing the human rat’s nest in the woods close to downtown, as neighbors will hopefully no longer have to face the infestation marked by crime, violence, and the degradation of a peaceful greenbelt. The Seattle Times shares the disheartening narrative of a group of a dozen or so dissidents, including the aide of a city council member, linking arms together and vociferously championing the trending and destructive activity of urban camping. Thankfully, the efforts of the sobering mob ultimately failed, and eight individuals will have to find another location to bunk. One of the “campers” (English for lazy), described the poor excuse for a shanty as a “tribalistic village”, and word has it the University of Washington anthropology department is seriously considering offering a scholarship to the individual.

Tuesday’s incident clearly illustrates the detrimental effects caused by a stream of trick down insanity and regressive policy from the Seattle city council. Thanks to poor and reckless decision made by elected officials in creating a lucrative cottage industry using the homeless, residents in cities up and down the West coast must cope with the systemic epidemic caused by enablement and the frenzied construction of tent town obtrusively tainting the quality of life for the tax paying majority. The irony is not lost on those who are burdened with the highest cost of living, and disproportionately fund the reprehensible and failing public works programs dream up by the mighty city council. The delusion has reached such a remarkable level of incredulity, that a King County superior court judge ruled last month, that vehicles can be claimed as homes under the state’s homesteading act, setting the ugly precedent that the creepy and stinking derelict van parked in a family neighborhood, is impervious to law enforcement officials, parking violations and towing companies.

Like the Bay area, Seattle has become the new haven for vagrants,  and within stumbling distance from the Amazon world headquarters, as Jeff Bezos and brass search frantically for a business friendly environment to conduct operations. Even though the city raised the minimum wage to $15 per hour, employemnt is apparently for suckers. The divine comedy of the assault on the working class residents crises, is not complete without mention of city council member and self-proclaimed Socialist Kshama Sawant, who sent a staff member on the clock to engage in hampering the efforts of the city in removing the encampment. (Unbelievable!) Sawant’s indiscretions during her term include a push to publicly hijack Boeing assets in forming a bus factory, the creation of public heroin injection sites, a ridiculous firearms and ammunition tax, and a tax hike on small business in throwing $75 million at the homeless. Who is crazier, the overzealous Socialist, or the voters, who keep on electing her? Actually, no rationale conservative leaning or independent candidate will attempt to run for office in balancing out the progressive majority, as the numbers game would leave little chance to actually make a difference.

Clearly, Seattle has a homeless problem and the homeless have a Seattle problem and caught in the middle of the logistical folly are the unwilling benefactors of a childish experiment of societal engineering, which has reached the point of no return. (A tip for travelers- book your hotel rooms in Bellevue or Kirkland and explore the natural beauty of the area and skip downtown Seattle, as there is really nothing to see, unless observing a diversity of bums fighting to reach Pike Place Market qualifies as vacation worthy.)
