‘This Is Not About Freedom’ – Biden’s COVID Comment Defines Presidency

Joe Biden on Thursday appears to have replaced the U.S. Constitution with something else, according to critics of his new vaccination mandate, and in the process he has targeted people who, for various reasons, have chosen to not take any of the available vaccines, while diverting attention from his stinging defeat over the David Chipman nomination.

Is it social bigotry for Biden to declare, “Many of us are frustrated with the nearly 80 million Americans who are still not vaccinated. This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated?”

As reported by Fox News, the president “proposed rules that would force private-sector employers with more than 100 workers to either require them to be fully vaccinated or mandate that they undergo weekly tests. Biden referred to the mandate as a ‘new action plan.’ The rules would be enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).”

The Daily Caller says “big business” has endorsed Biden’s mandate.

Perhaps his most ominous remark was, “This is not about freedom or personal choice. It’s about protecting yourself and those around you.”

This is the same fellow who, during his campaign more than 18 months ago, released a sweeping gun control agenda that seeks to ban the most popular rifle in the United States, the modern semiautomatic sporting rifle, while imposing additional restrictions on the exercise of Second Amendment rights to “keep and bear arms.”

It might be argued that in Biden’s world, freedom does not include the personal choice of owning a popular firearm, with which a citizen might protect himself/herself and those around them.

Biden just suffered a stinging defeat when the White House was forced to withdraw the nomination of self-acknowledged would-be gun banner David Chipman to head the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It was a major setback to the gun prohibition movement, which supported Biden’s election last year, and strongly supported the Chipman nomination.

But the new vaccine mandate—which may set off a massive backlash—dominated the headlines, diverting public attention away from the Chipman failure. Essentially, Biden used one announcement to display an image of firm resolve, thus overshadowing an embarrassing loss to the gun owners and gun rights organizations he has spent a career demonizing and treating like second-class citizens.

Perhaps Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, put it best Thursday when he observed, “Joe Biden picked a fight not only with America’s law-abiding gun owners, he picked a fight with a Constitutional right. He lost.”

Will Biden lose again with this vaccination mandate, which the Republican National Committee intends to challenge in court, according to Fox News? RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told Fox, “Like many Americans, I am pro-vaccine and anti-mandate. Many small businesses and workers do not have the money or legal resources to fight Biden’s unconstitutional actions and authoritarian decrees, but when his decree goes into effect, the RNC will sue the administration to protect Americans and their liberties.”
