The United Nations is at it again.
Or rather, the United Nations tried to be at it, withdrew $10 million from the piggy bank and held a series of meetings that amounted to nothing. Other than existing as one of the most bureaucratic and ineffectual flops of organizations whose members regularly summit to a self-aggrandizing moral high ground reaching the heights of the tallest mountain in the galaxy, Olympus Mons on Mars, diplomacy is regularly replaced by an aggressive agenda marked by multitudinous ulterior motives. While a fair percentage of the world lives in organized chaos, prompted by dictators and the blatant abuse of political ideologies, diplomats at the UN convene under the comforts of the Manhattan skyline with immunity to common law, and rather than making any perceptible difference in alleviating societal issues, compile useless lists among other inexplicable tasks, that are always rubber stamped with a smile.
The BBC profiles the annual PR move by the organization in deflecting negative mention, in ranking the nations of the world according to happiness. Taken with an Oprah ego sized grain of the salt, the country that dominates in the smile department (cue the drums) is Finland.
That’s right, based on a series of questionable criteria that includes of all things, immigrant happiness, the Finns earn the top spot (It must be the weather).
No, nothing to see here. The UN is not marketing and justifying the current alarming trends of migration overtaking culture Northern Europe? Well, maybe the governing officials believe that is time that the free world adopt a policy in embracing Sharia Law. This is not at all a far fetched observation, as six of the top ten countries scoring the highest on happiness, are democratic socialist paradises that feature wide open borders, especially to folks from the Middle East and Northern Africa. Not surprisingly, the US and the UK barely crack the top twenty.
Contributing researchers to the list should be applauded for their consensus decision to award Mexico a place at #24, including TENTH overall in the perceived happiness of immigrants. This is the dog eat dog world of Mexico people, Mexico, where the Cartel, federales and the military, all open their collective arms and hearts (“arms”as in weapons Yes) to foreign nationals who decide to call the high desert and coastal regions home. So much for being in touch with reality, but we can all form a unifying line of hands spanning the globe in celebrating that the UN made a valiant attempt to quantify world happiness, while countless regimes such as North Korea, and Venezuela continue to inflict massive human rights violations on their populations. “…And the world can be as one.”
