Why these guys want to remove this tree stump from its God forsaken location is anyone’s guess. Maybe they needed firewood? Maybe they were clearing the way for donkey traffic? Maybe they just had nothing else to do, or they had never seen something actually grow out of the ground and wanted to take it home to share?
Whatever the answer, I bet they wish they had left that tree stump alone. The tree didn’t give up easily and the men didn’t act as if they’ve pulled many stumps out of the desert in their day.
