One of the most stalwart defenders of the Second Amendment in the United States Congress is on the mend following a recent medical scare.

Colorado U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) is recovering from emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from her leg. According to Denver’s KUSA-TV citing a statement from the congresswoman’s office, Boebert underwent the procedure earlier this week at a Colorado hospital after having been admitted for what was described as severe swelling in her left leg. A CT scan discovered the clot, and doctors diagnosed the congresswoman, who currently represents the western part of the state in the U.S. House of Representatives but is running for an open seat in a Denver-area district this fall, with a condition known as May-Thurner syndrome, which according to the TV station citing the Cleveland Clinic is a rare condition that impacts blood flow.

The statement went on to say that the clot was removed and doctors inserted a stent that should help to prevent a recurrence of this from taking place.
