The blatant incompetency of elected officials in the effective administration of law enforcement, an unacceptable interpretation of the Second Amendment, and a general inclination towards corruption combine to form the imperfect triangle at City Hall allowing homicide numbers to reach staggering heights.
The raw numbers lack any flexibility and authority for more than a single interpretation as the data overwhelmingly illustrates the plague of violence afflicting the sanctuary city on the shores of Lake Michigan. Fox News notes that in 2016, 762 homicides occurred within city of Chicago limits, an unprecedented increase of 57 percent from recorded incidents in 2015. The runaway semi-truck of deadly outbreaks of violence has yet to reach a crescendo when looked at over a two decade sample size, as the Windy City claims more fatal encounters than the collective total of New York and Los Angeles over the same time period.
While the data supports a perpetual downward spiraling trend towards an uptick in killings, the public servants of Chicagoland seem unequipped to alter the course of a pending crises due to flaws in ideology and governance. As for any contributions towards solutions to the gnawing problem, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and company continue to flounder in the wastelands of ineptitude and in certain instances contribute to the problem through sheer ignorance. Earlier in 2016, Alderman Pat Dowell knowingly ignored instances of firearms burglaries at local rail yards, which lead to directly to future railway heists and more illegal guns on the streets.
As 2017 brings hope with the return of strong leadership and sensibility to the nation, the People’s Republic of Chicago is in real trouble.
