There are growing concerns that the establishment media is working hard to repackage Democrat Sen. Kamala Harris—Joe Biden’s presumed designated running mate in November—as a “moderate” when she is in reality the most liberal member of the Senate, a story apparently only being reported by Fox News.
Harris scored as the most liberal Senate member last year, according to GovTrack, an online organization that tracks Congress. Harris surpassed even Sen. Bernie Sanders as a liberal, yet ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos—the liberal former Democratic party advisor and then communications director at the Clinton White House before securing a job with the network—said “Kamala Harris comes from the middle of the road, moderate wing of the Democratic party.”
The New York Times referred to Harris as a “pragmatic moderate.”
This effort to package the far left Harris as being middle-of-the-road can only reinforce the notion among conservatives that the “mainstream media” isn’t “mainstream” at all, but has tilted so far to the left that even someone with Harris’ background appears moderate. It’s either that, or the establishment media is engaging in a massive deception, critics contend.
Harris has decidedly anti-gun rights credentials, having vowed last year while campaigning for the presidential nomination to give Congress 100 days to enact restrictive gun control laws or she would do it unilaterally by executive order. She believes in “government buyback” of so-called “assault weapons,” a notion Second Amendment activists consider absurd because the government never owned the guns in question, which are not true “assault weapons” anyway, just look-alikes.
The guns in Harris’ sights are semi-auto modern sporting rifles, the most popular rifle in America today.
According to a Wikipedia biography, Harris was born in Oakland, Calif., in 1964, the daughter of Donald J. Harris and Shyamala Gopalan. Her father is a Stanford University emeritus professor of economics and her mother is a breast cancer scientist. The parents both emigrated to the U.S. They divorced when Kamala was seven.
The Wikipedia biography notes Harris “is a descendant of Hamilton Brown,” the Irish-born Jamaican sugar planter and slave owner, for whom Brown Town is named. He died in 1843.
Sen. Harris took office in 2017 after having served as California Attorney General. In that post, she was sued by the Second Amendment Foundation and Calguns Foundation.
She is a darling of the gun prohibition lobby.
So why is the establishment media determined to sell Harris to American voters as a “moderate?”
Fox News quoted Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, who contended the California senator takes “extreme positions, from raising taxes to abolishing private health insurance to comparing law enforcement officials to the KKK…”
McDaniel, like many conservatives now commenting on social media, considers Harris a “president in waiting” as a majority of likely voters (59%) believe Biden will not complete a full four-year term if he wins in November. That was detailed in an AmmoLand report.
McDaniel posited that “the left-wing mob is controlling Biden’s candidacy, just like they would control him as president.”
