Debbie Wasserman Schultz must have decided that the fight against the right to “keep and bear arms” is lost. So she’s moved on to infringing on the right to keep and “bear bullets.”
Miami NBC affiliate WTVJ reported on Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s (D-FL) news conference announcing the Ammunition Background Check Act of 2018, which was legislation requiring background checks to purchase ammunition.
Surrounded by students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Wasserman Schultz said, “Unlike firearm purchases, someone who wants to go into a store that sells ammunition can buy as much ammunition as they want without so much as being asked their first name.”
It requires more than just a gun to take an innocent life. It also takes bullets. We need to do all we can to make sure neither of them end up in the wrong hands.

She added, “This is just such a gaping and grave and dangerous loophole that I could not wrap my mind around it when I was told that that was the case.”
Without background checks on ammunition sales, there’s nothing to stop dangerous people – barred from buying guns – from amassing vast ammunition arsenals. This ludicrous loophole puts lives at risk.

Background checks on ammunition sales will make it harder for dangerous people to circumvent law and acquire the resources to commit gun violence. We should pass this simple, commonsense fix right away.
