Exquisite, sleek and moderately polarizing, the Megyn Kelly act now gravitates to the career graveyard of the major network with the feathered appendages, and then there is the looming digital echo of Katie Couric’s perpetual mind numbing form of custodial grievances in forever arming the duct tape and superglue in preventing NBC from imploding into a train wreck of epic proportions. Is this a loss for Fox News or a gain for loyal viewers alienated by Kelly’s cumbersome actions while elevating the role of the anchor into the realm of debate?
CBS News writes that Kelly will assume a challenging daytime role as she attempts to win significant audience shares in an overcrowded market of traditional and digital mediums. Blessed with a collective short-term memory impairment, audiences will forever brand the stately anchor as the “news person who fought with Trump” or “the blonde from Fox News.” The 46-year-old, who logged over a decade of face-time in Rupert Murdoch’s empire, could possibly be summoned as a fill-in with spot assignments on MSNBC, which is part of the NBC family. The irony or intrigue in Kelly’s devolution is not wasted on a suddenly eager and pliable Rachel Maddow. Unlike politics, the world of television offers a dearth of resistance and detriment when switching teams.
