Answer: It will not surprise many that the band, Liar’s Club, hails from the Seattle area, but what is most intriguing is that their catchy tune ‘Espresso Girl’ was released at the dawn of the Grunge commercial explosion with the heavy-weights which defined the era — Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Sound Garden.
While Starbucks was not yet even a microscopic blip on the national radar screen, Liar’s Club captured the nuances of Seattle’s soon-to-be legendary coffee culture and elevated the status of the Barista from a mere beverage maker to rock star proportions. The band was a regular on the regional music scene in the Northwest, but were not able to land a recording contract.
