The ugly precedent set in Portlandia has trickled down and across the country to Charlotte. As the public forum for republican opinions has effectively been eradicated in the Rose City by a spineless city council who have ultimately failed in upholding the basic constitutional rights for their constituents, the alarming trend of one-sided discourse has reached North Carolina.
The Daily Mail shares the harrowing narrative of a pro-Trump group which was denied the opportunity to participate in this years Charlotte Pride Parade, based solely on their political leanings. Apparently, “Gays for Trump” members submitted a formal application for the approval of a float in the festivities, but were succinctly and thoroughly rebuked. The organizers of the event released this public statement in response to the many questions surrounding their controversial decision.
“Charlotte Pride reserves the right to decline participation at our events to groups or organizations which do not reflect the mission, vision and values of our organization, as is acknowledged in our parade rules and regulations by all groups at the time of their parade application,” reads a statement from the organization. “In the past, we have made similar decisions to decline participation from other organizations espousing anti-LGBTQ religious or public policy stances.”
Pride? What an interesting title for a group that apparently lacks any semblance of the concept.
The amount of time and energy being wasted on the results of the presidential election is both infuriating and disturbing. While actions speak much louder than words, the public is getting a firsthand peak at the reality of pure hypocrisy from certain groups, who for decades have promoted the idea of tolerance, yet when faced with the opportunity to put their money where their mouth is, have completely fallen flat on their collective faces. Americans are quickly realizing that they are not allowed to share an opinion or viewpoint if it differs from that of a group of ideological bullies. Welcome to the wonderful world of groupthink. As the face of the gay movement has been an alleged example of togetherness and collaboration, the ugly truth is that many so-called supporters have been invested only to benefit the democratic party, and thankfully they are finally being outed.
