With students like David Hogg and others stocking the leftist demands for gun control and confiscation, patriotic Americans have chosen to exercise their Second Amendment right and are buying firearms at a dizzying pace.

In March, there were gun-related background checks conducted by the feds than any other March on record – and the biggest month since President Donald Trump took office.

The FBI released the numbers, showing a dramatic increase in checks conducted by the feds.

The Federalist Papers report,

There is no record of gun sales per se, so the instant background check system is the best barometer of gun sales. Of course, it doesn’t include private-party purchases or multiple firearms in one purchase.

In March, there were 2,767,699 checks conducted, besting the previous March record – in 2016 – of 2.5 million. The numbers are higher in March than during all of 2017 and higher than any other time in the Trump Presidency.

Fears of gun control and gun confiscation with the rise of the “March for our Lives” and other gun control rallies is driving the sales. High-profile shootings – like at a high-school in Parkland, Florida, have driven gun-control activists out of the woodwork and into the public eye.

Normally, gun sales spike in the wake of violent attacks as the left pushes for new gun control measures.

“Sales of semi-auto rifles, especially AR and AK platforms, have more than doubled in sales since the Florida shooting and subsequent media coverage of possible pending legislation,” Rex McClanahan, owner of one of the biggest online gun dealers, Bud’s Gun Shop, told the Washington Free Beacon at the end of February. “This is exactly what happened after Sandy Hook, San Bernardino, Orlando, etc.”

He said the push to buy certain guns, especially those targeted by gun-control activists, nearly depleted his inventory.

“The market on these types of guns had actually gotten very soft after Trump took office,” he said. “Manufactures and distributors alike were sitting on thousands of them and the prices had dropped substantially. That inventory has now almost completely cleared out since the school shooting in Florida.”
