No Whining About Social Media- The Post Election Roaring Silence

November 10, 2020 By Conn Williamson

The demonstrative and strident Soviet voice with ties to the Cold War Kremlin and possessing legitimate voting credentials within the physical borders of the US, and not in cahoots with the legacy of the Rosenberg’s, is comedian Yakov Smirnoff. While the disappointing absence of the Putin election rigging lingers after the civic voting departments painfully count each and every ballot, the revered Smirnoff spawned his own controversy by speaking against a mask mandate and concerned about dwindling ticket sales due to Covid-19 at a Branson, Missouri city council meeting in July.

Russia’s president and the unofficial head of the KGB spy and military state network, and the official authority of communist headstrong cultural humor in middle America manage to cancel each other out with equally dazzling schtick critiquing their respective industries. The question remains in the absence of political conspiracists touting the existence of foreign bots directly coercing undecided voters via hidden IP’s surrounding Moscow, what if any role exactly did social media play in the 2020 election, with F***book as the chief culprit for scrutiny, based on a checkered past? Smirnoff’s retort to the scandalous environment and drama as addictive as crack, “In Russia, friends Zuckerberg you.”

After four years of ceaseless taunts, consisting of a steady stream of demeaning and concise rhetoric spewing from a group desperately clinging to the results of a futile thought experiment that somehow Trump’s election was due to fraud or the disruption of foreign powers, the swarms of crickets are notably silent in the aftermath of Biden’s narrow victory. The prediction of continued election interference on digital hangouts, was only valid if Trump defended his title, even though that it is widely known, but not accepted, that dastardly elements of nefarious governments were never asked to leave the party.

Where is the outrage?  What happened to the armies of foreign electronic terrorist cells solely responsible for the outcomes of major election?

Instead, those right of center once again face being unceremoniously tossed into Oprah’s blender of a social network hydrochloric acid smoothie, as the digital allegations towards conservatives have simply shifted to accusing individuals of threatening uniform violence online, or ignoring the final voting tallies in a show of “gun-toting” defiance by fabricating misinformation.

The mainstream news outlets have enjoyed a field day with the sideshow theatrics of proliferating fake news and in consistently applying the pressure on political adversaries at the expense of journalistic morays and fundamental ethics. Some of the heavy hitters giving undeserved credence to the false narrative and supporting targeted censorship are The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, and a cavalcade of nouveau riche electronic portals.

The despicable rally cry from the media industry is to continue to poke, prod, and antagonize sensible Americans beyond their ideology and deploy personal attacks, until pillars of the community and religious advocates either retreat into the solitude of the silent majority cocoon, or react justifiably, but irrationally, and are taken out to the pasture and liquidated by the moderation team of the social network thought police without the opportunity to atone for reaching an understandable breaking point. The viral rumor passing through the newsrooms and online portals, is that allegedly site administrators squelched a spree of conservative propaganda during the late and post climax stages of the election, and preserving Democracy.

As the Cambridge Analytica scandal exposing F***book’s pitiful track record of the mishandling of sensitive information, and the unscrupulous mentality to sell user data to the highest is four years in the rearview mirror, the company has pivoted numerous times in a dizzying display of volatility that serious claims about mismanagement bordering on the criminal could aptly sub into the game of subversion for Covid-19 content.

The 2016 trending version of corporate espionage and ideological play was to cry foul and remain comprehensively transparent in admitting that the social community was overrun by foreign instigators, and equally as cagey and sketchy in facilitating a massive coverup hiding the lucrative marketplace and trafficking of sensitive data. In 2020, citing the ambiguous and convoluted “terms and conditions”, effectively giving management the right to moderate and block at will, the corporation remained relatively inconspicuous in banning conservative groups or determining information to be falsified. This aggressive purge of specific politics from online platforms that does not align with the overriding belief system of the tech industry, is hardly news against the multitudinous connotations surrounding the Biden/Harris ticket victory, and in the presence of such a validating and emotional outcome, the influential personalities and editors of the press can adopt a carefree approach to record and revise the contemporary predicament and plight of 70 million Americans at an impasse with the information leaking out of devices and smartphones.

This is the typical mawkish crap encouraged by the social media overlords and posted by liberals as Biden’s victory speeds towards reality. This screengrab is from a pretended neighborhood F***book group, hijacked by an overwhelmingly leftist ideology.

In deplorable and disingenuous fashion, democratic leaders and pundits are now orchestrating a chorus of national unity propelled by the visceral, in tempting fate and logic in attempting to stop a starship traveling at the speed of light on a dime. The empty gesture at the surface is more like a slap in the face to the hard working Trump supporting citizens, who were subject to brutal and regular assaults from political adversaries throughout the anterooms of the social networks, and encouraged by the human administrators, and supported by the bots and algorithms programmed to discriminate in calculated iterations of military grade software. With four years of pent up angst spent on deconstructing society, it will take time before sensible voters can forgive the misgivings of those who devoted their life in attempting to derail the nation, based on an unprecedented variety of extremism.  As digital verbal threats and ridiculous metaphors continue to be hurled at nearly 72 million Americans by people and consortiums by the Silicon Valley tycoons, the great divide in the nation will only grow wider. Basic standards of decency have been so lowered that baseless epithets and blatant lies, pass for interaction.

The vocal and empowered left clearly wants to ignore four years of vitriol and undeterred hate in placing specific set of conditions on decency and tolerance, and social media continues to peddle all varieties of psychological warfare in a convenient one-stop shop of Republic dissolving human waste. Alarmingly, Yakov Smirnoff does not have a suitable quip to describe the thundering quiet of partisan politics and activism run amok.
