A new Rasmussen survey released Monday says likely U.S. voters are almost evenly divided in their reaction to President Joe Biden’s speech in Philadelphia earlier this month during which he ripped so-called “MAGA Republicans” as a threat to the nation.
According to the poll, the man seen by many as a practitioner of division politics had 48 percent of likely voters agreeing with his quote, “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
However, 47 percent disagree—virtually a dead heat—and the numbers get more interesting as the survey revealed 36 percent “strongly agree” while 39 percent “strongly disagree.”
“Eighty-percent (80%) of Democrats agree with Biden’s quote about the threat of MAGA “extremism,” while 76% of Republicans disagree,” Rasmussen Reports noted in releasing the survey results.
The same survey report notes a Twitter quote by Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) that “Joe Biden should quit blaming ‘MAGA Republicans’ and get to working on the economy he ruined.”
According to Rasmussen, “Fifty-eight percent (58%) of voters agree with Jordan’s quote, including 46% who Strongly Agree. Thirty-eight percent (38%) disagree with Jordan, including 26% who Strongly Disagree.”
The report also noted 83 percent of Republicans agreed with the congressman while 60 percent of Democrats disagreed. Among Independents, 55 percent agreed and 38 percent disagreed.

Biden is still stalled in Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll. While 45 percent of likely voters approve of his job performance, 53 percent disapprove with only 20 percent “strongly approving” his work and 40 percent who “strongly disapprove.” The disparities haven’t changed much for several months.
Biden’s Philadelphia speech came a few days after his gun control speech in Wilkes-Barre, Penn., where he touted his “Safer America Plan.” Amy Swearer at the Heritage Foundation—writing in the Daily Signal—ripped Biden’s Aug. 30 remarks, which included some “blatantly false” assertions about firearms.
