The liberal media won’t touch the impending controversy involving factual reporting with a 10-foot pole that identifies as a rare orchid endemic to the rugged terrain of the New Guinea autonomous topographical region carpeted by dense tropical jungle. While dime store anthropologists crown the native peoples with platitudes surrounding the dangerous term of the “noble savage”, a unit of tribalism that existed in an innocent utopia before being exposed to corruption and murder by colonialism, the brutally flawed logic that pockets of humanity existed in the purest form before being visited by European explorers, only forwards the agenda that drives partisan politics and special interests.
In pseudo-intellectual communities such as Redwood City, California, the a suburb abutting the fervid intellectual grounds of Palo Alto and Stanford University, the unsubstantiated fears, and passive aggressive campaign to control other human beings is prevalent among the population. With critical thinking skills sentenced to a ghastly prison camp in the Republic of Georgia, and common sense on sabbatical in Madagascar, the fundamental rights of citizens take a back seat to an emotionally driven narrative. Of course, guns are at the forefront of the latest controversy and breach in properly interpreting the Constitution, as a minority-owned business remains in limbo and at the whim of a city council oligarchy which is collectively indifferent to minding one’s own business in the future shock iteration of a nanny state.
In late 2022, the aforementioned collection of demagogues voted in a moratorium which would prevent Dumpling Defense, owned by a second generation Chinese-American from obtaining a business license to legally operate a gun retail and training location within the city. Originally the council called for a 45-day period hold on the license to research, debate and brainstorm ways of hamstringing the small business, a debilitating delay that was extended to 10 months by the powers that be. Adding insult to injury, the Redwood City Council refers to the attack on First and Second Amendment rights as a “temporary ordinance”. This prompted gun rights supporters to refer to the controversy as “Dumplingate”.
Up and down the West coast, progressive governments on the municipal level have deployed similar tactics to bankrupt or discourage gun sellers and ranges from becoming established. Within the city limits of San Francisco and Seattle there are no gun retailers currently open for business, as unrelenting policy has chased the firearms marketplace to surrounding areas.
The owner of Dumpling Defense posted on social media that the business model is designed to empower Asian-Americans to defend themselves, a historically conforming and hard working demographic, yet is the target of racist undertones and violence from other ethnicities, a fact that the subjective press will never dare to publish. The fledgling business has just over 1900 followers on Instagram. As the Bay Area is a bastion for crime, the critical outreach effort by Dumpling to Asian-Americans and all racial groups is a positive force in combating an out of control epidemic of lawlessness and enablement of repeat offenders. Since the beginning of the pandemic, gun sales and applications for licenses have soared among the Asian-American community.
In a recent article written by San Mateo Journal reporter Sierra Lopez and posted on the newspaper’s website documenting a recent meeting within the Redwood City council chambers, the collective effort to promote gun control by certain so-called journalists is quite apparent. During the public forum fear mongering and uniformed residents allegedly presented a “300 foot rule” a proposal restricting gun shops and indoor ranges to being operated at least 100 yards away from “sensitive areas”, which includes the “Gun Free” school zones and parks. The op-ed piece disguised as a biased news article includes the following heavily editorialized diatribe of rhetoric demonizing legally owned guns and law-abiding citizens.
‘Some worried firearm shops would normalize the ownership of guns and asserted routes to school should be considered a sensitive use while others said the dealers shouldn’t be located anywhere in retail corridors like El Camino Real where restaurants and other shops are located.’
The deliberate use of “normalize” insinuates that owning firearms is a taboo and dangerous concept, a clear indication that radicalized politics have infiltrated the quasi-newsroom of a media syndicate foisting ideology upon the public, rather than delivering the truth. Absent from Lopez’s story are responses to the moratorium from gun retailers or Second Amendment supporters.
For the owner of Dumpling Defense, there may be hope on the horizon, as apparently Redwood City Attorney Veronica Ramirez understands the ramifications of enacting stifling measures on small business that violate the Constitution, a key point that was not omitted from the article. However, the strain on the legal system and tax-payers to undo unfeasible legislation are consequences that offending lawmakers need to be held accountable for in making a political statement, while compromising public safety.
