As China desperately scrambles to achieve dominance over second and third world nations to repossess the vixen of Taiwan before the population figures plummet in the next two decades, the West braces for the pending blizzard and the posturing of regimes such as North Korea and to a lesser extent Eritrea for the sake of fostering disruption and emanating chaos through impeding the globe’s supply chains. While the bulk of the former Soviet Union arsenal still on the black market is dispersed among rogue empires, the phase shift in militant technology permits smaller nation states to pursue chaos without enduring severe and instantaneous backlash. The reality that Beijing and other dangerous factions employ a mercenary-style approach to achieving ideological objectives through unrelenting force that does not qualify on any ethical parameter, is a disturbing facet in aggressive actions disguised as diplomacy, a scenario that the United Nations and other bureaucratic concerns are inept to effectively address and their existence only exacerbates an already tenuous environment.
While China’s People’s Liberation Army is on the cutting edge of digital interference, much of the workload has been indirectly outsourced to Pyongyang or Tirana, exotic resorts breeding totalitarianism, and the remote operations echoing the hierarchical business model of big tech in North America and Europe gives the aspiring superpowers the advantage of a furtive and flexible plan of assault on the free market. As residual computing power reaches the threshold of Moore’s Law, and the inexorably unimaginable amount of disposable quantum states are readily accessible, the 20 year window for terraforming the political tapestry and the vast scalability of redefining truth and ultimately justice is equivalent to the workload of a megaproject colonizing a proximal planet or planetoid. In this abundance of server farms and qubits, digital storage interfaced with particles and biological matter- the idea of “one hand on the button” brings back the 1980’s height of the Cold War in a brash rush of encapsulating the entire visceral spectrum of fear, and the propagation of hysteria.
As flesh and blood humans in the contemporary make “yes” or “no” decisions based on the “on” or “off” binary state of the pertinent data available, cultures that conform are more inclined to favor input that is conducive to order and procedure rather than free will. The unsettling result of this contrived ecosystem is that on one end of the aisle individuals and societies are stifled and on the other side of things a reckless and impassioned sense of individuality is cultivated. This leads to a further schism between left and right, extremism versus reason, as the apps available to government and consumers made possible by the big tech hierarchy are either utilized to instill chaos or promote tradition. The resulting paradox only leads to an ends and a means in whatever satisfies the ulterior motive of the content generator.
While history is cyclical in nature, the proles of the present have more in common with the serfs before the onset of the printing press, than the divide between traditionalists and the indoctrinated, a narrative brilliantly emulated on the Pacific Rim. The problem is that computers have perfect memories, despite the bias of the informational landlords.
