Criticism, Condemnation Follow Biden’s Predictable Pardon of Son

ANALYSIS—What many in the “legacy” media tried to portray as a “surprise” move by fading President Joe Biden came as no surprise at all to American gun owners and at least two prominent critics who literally unloaded on the Delaware Democrat for pardoning his son, Hunter, after having insisted for months no such action was planned.

It was a lie, capping off a career of canards, perhaps best described by legal analyst Jonathan Turley in an 862-word Op-Ed published at Fox News Digital: “It is not just that the president used his constitutional powers to benefit his family. It is because the action culminates years of lying to the public about his knowledge and intentions in the influence-peddling scandal surrounding his family.”

He was joined in his bristling g criticism of the Biden pardon by Hugh Hewitt, also writing in his own 702-word Fox News Op-Ed, “When President Biden told us he would not pardon Hunter, he was lying. There is very little one can do to stop practiced liars from lying. Just don’t get fooled again.”

But the establishment media and, it appears, blind faith Democrats are willing to be fooled again…and again…and again.

In a separate Fox News report, former Congressman Trey Gowdy, who was previously a federal prosecutor, explained the sweeping scope of Hunter Biden’s pardon. He told Fox the pardon “really could not be more sweeping, to be honest with you.”

As explained by Fox News, “The time frame included in the pardon covers ‘almost all federal statutes of limitations,’ Gowdy said. ‘For the vast majority of federal crimes, this covers this time period and means that charges cannot be brought.’”

Hewitt, meanwhile, doesn’t stop at condemning Joe Biden’s use of his office to get his son off the legal hook. He goes after the entire Democrat establishment. Where Turley used a scalpel, Hewitt wields a scythe.

“Trust is earned in ounces and lost in pounds,” Hewitt writes. “President Biden, everyone involved in his catastrophic presidency and those in legacy media who have covered it as though Biden’s term was a success have lost scores and scores of pounds of trust. Don’t give it back.”

Translation: Democrats and their media cheerleader/enablers were all in on it to one degree or another. From deceiving the public about Biden’s declining cognition to helping spread and perpetuate misinformation about the Biden laptop contents and downplaying the seriousness of Hunter’s gun-related felonies.

Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the grassroots Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, summed up the case from the perspective of the firearms community.

“This pardon,” Gottlieb stated. “is an affront to all the people who have been convicted and or served prison time  for falsely filling out the same federal form that Hunter Biden did. Especially those who committed a non-violent crime as a young adult and were never told that they  lost the right to own a gun and had no intention of lying.”

The veteran gun rights advocate used one of Biden’s more infamous remarks to describe what the president did by reneging on his vow to not pardon his son. “The President is ‘a lying dog-faced pony soldier.’”

“Joe Biden’s exercise of his pardon power is an outrage,” Gottlieb said. “He will leave office with his reputation in tatters, and his only lasting legacy will be one of deceit. His history of dishonesty is well established, so not even his most faithful allies will be able to gloss this over in the months and years ahead.

“Hunter Biden’s unconditional pardon,” he observed, “is an insult to millions of American gun owners who have endeavored to follow increasingly restrictive gun laws which Joe Biden championed while his son violated them.”
