Big Pond, Small Fish- The World Of The College Football Playoffs

December 23, 2025 By Conn Williamson

With parity at a premium, the NCAA governing body enacted aggressive measures to literally even the playing field. The dynamic as unfair and unequitable as Nancy Pelosi judging a drag queen beauty contest during the height of Covid, while enjoying the dungeon.

While the ancient incumbent will fortunately and ungraciously retire from politics after a half century, deaths by hammer in the Bay Area have increased by an unsettling 386% rate of Californication inflation, the streets of the Left coast amok with miscreants and flash mobs attacking the basic tenets of the free market. What is a legacy amongst chaos?

College athletics, especially football, face a similar unjust state of abuse and exploitation through an ineffectual organization by the reverse commute of those willing to compete and those willing to be paid. The best are not allowed to be the best, while the mediocre to the worst flourish in personified obscurity.

As the major athletic conferences have a first class ticket on an Emirates Airbus 380 powering against the will the jet stream to the Middle East, the subordinate stowaways of the lower decks and the smaller institutions have staked a major claim to fame and fortune on the dime of taxpayers as competition has been sacrificed on the consummate funeral pyre. The crises of the public education system is at the forefront of a boundless controversy that leaves amateurism confined within a Chinese forced labor camp, or in the deserts of the fundamentalist pathological actors of Saudi Arabia.

Case in point, James Madison visiting Oregon in a match-up of superficial proportions, or how about Tulane as the sacrificial lamb to Mississippi? Both contests ended in blowouts that would even pique the curiosity of Pelosi disciples and the losing schools identifying as imbedded journalists only politely aware of Hunter S. Thompson, yet oblivious to the nuances of savage malevolence trying to comprehend a war that was never understood despite the presence of duty.

Final scores- Oregon 51 James Madison 34… Mississippi 41 Tulane 10… the media ratings miniscule as apathy swarmed both sites of the glorified scrimmages. How large is the pond becoming in a volumetric sense and factoring the net proportion of species as the best against the best is no longer a consideration or metric in sexy statistical terms. Why even play the games or massacres? That is what the regular season is for.

The current version of NCAA football is simply an extension of the apologist milieu framework of anomalies revered with all the pageantry of the cumbersome underdog story dominating the trending headlines compiled by the bots and humans of propagating content throughout social media. Athletes throughout the hierarchy of wins and losses believe that they are the brand, that their Name Image and Likeness (NIL) is a commodity. In the pathetic aftermath of delusion money is wasted, integrity is canceled by ambiguity, and the subsequent grays and fog of a cottage industry engulfs the future of competition as pundits force the will of probability and pit mankind against machine, men against women, and common sense battling the ludicrous, if not the hopelessness in worshipping political correctness.

Every academic institution has a story to tell through athletics and the competitors on all levels and playing are currently flooding the marketplace of the rarified attention span in showing the short-sighted approach to interfacing with the feasible. Football is the cash cow regardless of identity politics and cannot be faked, at least before AI and gaming conjoin to a combination more deliciously decadent than peanut butter and chocolate. The swarms of the minnows are nefarious in the vastness of pond flooding with exuberance unattainable dreams. Just ask the architects in the latest experiment of societal engineering on how this will end as “not well” will be omitted from the Congressional hearing transcript.
