Down With Homework! School District Seriously Considers Eliminating The Requirement

May 31, 2018 By Conn Williamson

In the modern jump cut digital world of the future shock, words such as “stressful” and “difficult” are given more credence than “tradition” and “education”. This wayward idea is readily apparent in the modern day infrastructure of the public school, where learning is being subjugated by progressive mentalities, which the threaten the development of critical thinking skills in the younger generations as a direct result of questionable teaching mechanisms including common core and the pending adoption of phasing out homework.

US News reports that a school district in New York is exploring the viability of cutting daily assignments after a pair of students complained about the rigorous and painstaking effects of carrying the burden of scholastic responsibility on their puny shoulders (Can we entitle these kids as we add to the participation trophy ceremony?). Apparently, the school officials are using the anti-homework petition by the fifth graders as an excuse to facilitate a wholesale change in teaching and learning philosophies. The problem with their innovative approach in rethinking the traditional model of education is that not all students are created equal in the capacity to learn, as much as the liberal faculty members would like to believe.

Once Again The Simpsons are an Apt Crystal Ball

This flawed fairy tale feel good model of thinking, unfortunately plagues the majority of the education system, from administrators to teachers, and as grades are inflated and students are pushed towards attending four year colleges, resulting in an influx of federal dollars for the district, and the viscous cycle of skyrocketing tuition and a dearth of applicable job skills, leaves businesses scouring the country for qualified workers. But, at least the administrators at the teacher’s unions and the university brass can retire after selling one of their four homes. In fact, the hard working and dedicated public school teachers see very little of this generated capital, yet are forced to give up a healthy portion of each paycheck to ensure union membership, as the irony of exploitation is not lost on society.

While the district hopes to have a new homework policy in place by the end of Summer, parents scramble to fill the void in productivity directly proportional to the workload of the student slowly being reduced to nothingness as the school year is annually shortened and discipline and testing fall victim to the ides of political correctness and greed.
