The Dynamic Trump Supporting Duo ‘Diamond and Silk,’ will appear before the House Judiciary Committee to “examine social media filtering and policing practices” On Thursday, April 26.
According to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.):
The advent of social media has made it possible for people to connect across continents, explore vast amounts of information, and share meaningful dialogue with friends and strangers.
However, this same technology can be used to suppress a particular viewpoint and manipulate public opinion. I look forward to hearing from a wide variety of experts at our hearing to discuss the free speech implications of social media filtering.”
According to ijr.com Diamond and Silk made the news when they posted on Facebook claiming that Facebook had emailed them and determined their content to be “unsafe to the community.”
When Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg appeared before Congress to discuss issues related to privacy, he was grilled by several congressmen and congresswomen about the decision. Zuckerberg admitted that a mistake had been made and that his company had reached out to the two about the matter.
“I try to root out in the company is making sure we don’t have any bias in the work we do and I think it is a fair concern that people would wonder about,” Zuckerberg said.
After listening to Zuckerberg’s excuses during the hearing, Diamond and Silk stated:
“The very fake news is so scared that the truth about conservatives being censored on FB is coming to the light, they would prefer to distract you with a lie instead of the naked nasty truth.”
