Optical Illusions- Seeing May Not Be Believing

May 19, 2019 By Conn Williamson

Beneath the shimmering towers of composite metals and glass built by wealth and necessity, the frenetic environment hosting the sprawling downtown sidewalk is a testament to the citrus aftertaste of the intrepid modernity of future shock. Controlled chaos directed by Brownian motion, chance physics and billions of evolutionary years acts as a precarious coordinated dance, and with the introduction and epidemic spawned by smart devices changing the rules of the eternal game rapidly in a futile attempt to match nature itself, the entire urban snapshot of a scene teeming and bustling against the failing twilight may be destined for the rear view mirror of history.

As smart glasses now inhabit the virtual store shelves of the two largest retailers, and researchers predict that digitally compatible contact lenses are less than two decades from the marketplace, reality in the eye of the beholder is about to get a serious heat check with the innovative ascension of optical technologies already flooding the convoluted marketplace of artificial intelligent tools serving as personal assistants.

YouTube user Keiichi Matsuda shares a mind blowing and overwhelming experience of a possible futuristic reality obscured by digital layering
Virtual reality has already yielded to Augmented reality, as the insufferable pop-up advertising format of the juvenile internet phase captures the senses with hovering electric smart clouds captioning people and places with an overflow of data, the surreal experience intertwined with text messages, social network platforms, and visually ingrained advertising. In a true nightmarish scenario of technocratic overkill, Hyper reality is about to be unleashed onto society, while the wet paint of pixels and software patches awaits the finishing touches on the aforementioned founding generations of brain-assist interfaces, that hamper the development of critical thinking skills. The daunting fireworks grande finale explosion of effulgent characters and graphics beamed into the cerebral cortex and uncomfortably confining, represents a foisted and artificial world and the toxic side effect of an omnipresent feedback loop blocking the propagation of organic thought. With the constant distractions and the inability to simply turn off the engineered enhancements of real life, will the younger generations, who have never known anything other than being connected online through devices, be able to withstand the transition to a ceaseless stream of software constructed visual and audio stimulus?

Experts, researchers, authors, and academics have all shared misgivings about the precarious nature of incorporating complex hardware with the brain and the senses. Ironically, genuinely authentic science fiction that parallels future trends forever changing the world warns of the dangers surrounding information overload, as many authors have established the premise that the mind theoretically can only operate effectively when unhindered by continuous multi-tasking and being pulled in all temporal directions and ultimately losing touch with reality. The predicative hypothesis seems a reasonable assumption considering the current pathological addiction to devices and the virtual head stuck in the screen obliviousness to the here and the now. What makes the troubling possible scenario of the walking undead almost completely detached from the essence of a healthy existence, is the opportunity for the biased tech industry to take advantage of the complex and heightened technology in exploiting the vulnerability of the end user stuck in a gullible trance. If opting out of free will is not enough,  lasering Chelsea 4 President 2040 slogans directly into the frontal lobe represents a nice change of pace from the concept of democracy and a functioning republic to the extremists in a meticulous digital seance of a reeducation horrific societal engineering onslaught incredulously disguised as the latest and greatest app for the brain.

The questionable track record of the leaders of Silicon Valley in trading autonomy for AI control is widely known, as the push for self-driving vehicles populating a central computer operated mechanized highway system and scrapping billions of years of natural evolution all for the sake of self-aggrandizing gadgetry and a cornerstone on the global transportation monopoly exemplifies the mentality of decadent impracticality nullifying viability and redundancy. A harrowing leap in plausible outcomes can be executed, where the human like the driver as a casualty to the next generation automated electric Tesla, endures a chilling fate in being deliberately selected out for circuit boards and smart software. The digital leash of tomorrow’s world wrapped around the visual cortex is all about servitude, rather than innovation. As the always threat of the hacking scenario to the equation, and nothing can go wrong here.

For specific applications and tasks, Augmented reality and Hyper Reality are game changers for the medical field, research, manufacturing, construction and engineering. However, for the reasons embracing logic and sanity, further development as an offspring for the current selection of smart devices is a disaster waiting to inflict a despondent reign of terror upon the world, as humanity devolves into the coalescence of a bureaucratic hive mind. Bernie Sanders and his followers, do not require the release of a smart devices to the masses which accelerates the transformation into a socialistic dystopia, while the techies who attempt to play God with electricity and coding fail to accept that there exists universal laws and speed limits not meant to be mastered by the flesh and the blood, or the birds and the bees. The vast majority share the belief that the reality in and of life remains the greatest concept at least in this galaxy.
