Fact: Barring a tragedy of epic proportions, he is here to stay for at least four years. Certain reporters and editors also fail to grasp this reality or “opportunity” (they are held to differing and more stringent standards in disseminating information compared to citizens), as the attempt at suitable journalism lacking from major newspapers around the nation has devolved into a laughable battle to increase web traffic and advertising revenues for click-bait and creating wars on comment boards. This low-common-denominator behavior should be reserved for the cable news channels, not the wheelhouse of the nation’s traditional press corps or the apt pun of “press corpse” for better measure.
The propagation of divisiveness is facilitated by the simple mastery of the following formula: alienate half of the readers with a snarky title and incite a justifiable backlash by repeating the performance through the print medium and massage content into the digital editions.
The Seattle metro area has a population of over 3.7 million and certainly there is not a dearth of Republican or Libertarian voters living in the region. This is simply overkill by the Seattle Times and a complete and careless failure in professionalism or sensibility. However, the flaw with this model of logic from a business perspective is that conservatives trend towards speaking through their pocketbooks and financial decisions, rather than with displays of protests in public or online.
This approach to the antithesis of activism is certainly not a proactive approach for developing funding in a medium which has lost a large audience share over the last decade to the more convenient and customizable digital news delivery options, which lack a weary and obvious bias. The tired act of creating a stage for eternal victimhood and embracing entitlement is thankfully dwindling to obscurity as is the idea to never stop complaining about everything!
