2020: The Olympics Claw At Relevancy

January 15, 2020 By Conn Williamson

The core of the IOC headquarters located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The collective GDP of a middling developed nation economy valued megaproject is unable to find solace or anonymous refuge beneath the lush, ancient and picturesque treeline of Nepal providing a stark segue and contrast to the mighty Himalayas in defining the respite and solace of the lowlands. A conundrum which haunts the inner circle of the International Olympia Committee attempting to turn the massive profits and personal fortunes accrued during the Pyeongchang Winter games into untraceable Bitcoin cash laundry services which transcend even the desperate attempts of the international Cartel to engage in a massive pull tab pub caper in washing mountains of blood money. After all of this gonzo intrigue and the ardent bureaucrats of the IOC roster of corruption realize that there is no place left on the planet to freely spend their hefty earnings, as years of back stabbing Eastern European doping deals in extorting a handful of cities have residents so incensed that there exists a hit list, upon a hit list that garners more hate than US politics.

February 22 will mark the 40-year-anniversary of the shocking USA men’s hockey team defeat of the Soviet Union. Four decades scattered with breathtaking highlights and inspirational journeys, yet marred by the gradual deterioration of the prestige of the games, thanks to the existence of the sporting governing body and recklessly handled television coverage, mainly by the ineptitude of NBC. Can a viable athletic brand please by handled by professionals with vested interest in improving and growing the product, and not just self-serving hacks with a pervading ulterior motive towards climbing the ladder of power? This same narrative afflicts amateur sports in the US, especially at the NCAA level in the underperformance and incompetence of certain conference athletic directors. Leadership has no motivation to succeed, as financial performance merits or penalties do not exist. In the end, the athletes are the losers.

The “Miracle on Ice”, One of the greatest upsets of all-time. Will there ever be an Olympic moment of this magnitude going forward?

As least the venerable members of the global purveyor of megaprojects and misappropriation of union dollars in shoddy construction work marred by kickbacks get some their monies worth for the sordid and ridiculous antics of running a syndicate in more disarray than the notable hijinks of the UN. A few billion here and a few billion there gets stagnant, except when the organization enters into contemporary politics, and the specific air of controversy that currently afflicts the entire US in an angry sea of polarization and visceral inanity. Allegedly, the esteemed IOC officials took one look at the unpatriotic actions of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, and through the ultra-efficient and innovative channels furnished by a hive mind mentality, decided to enact policy for the 2020 Tokyo summer festivities. Thanks to the Star Spangled behavior of the much-maligned former San Francisco 49er player and a pair of team USA athletes who crossed the political line of futility during the Pan American games, there will be no ideological statements of any sort allowed on the podium, an ironically formidable stanch taken by an organization founded on the notion and craze of pure political framework.

The name of the game is ratings, and the recent abysmal television numbers for a mainstream medium spewing ideological rhetoric smacks of desperation, as the anti-White House sentiments are being retraced in a lame attempt to win back half of the audience alienated by a bias so obvious that not even the tragic missile strike to a Ukrainian jetliner can go misreported for so long. With the willingness of the IOC to crack down political gestures perverting the tradition of individual achievement and the grace and pride of representing a nation and the majority of citizens who work full-time and cannot pursue a non-major sport, where does this leave the insufferable outliers such as Kaepernick and the controversial soccer star/power lesbian alpha Megan Rapinoe and the countless others sure to commit copycat indiscretions? With the snarky arrogance of the social justice warrior prevalent and insufferable, the public outcry of desperation from an ostensible group think faction such as the Olympia leadership seems like a guiless attempt at a colossal trolling effort, and not a genuine campaign to segregate sporting events and personal politics. The esteemed roster of IOC leadership is like a who’s who of victimless crime lords in neutering the framework of cities for lucrative sums of personal financial gain.

With China as the new millennium tyrannical representation of the 1970’s and 80’s Soviet-Eastern Bloc sports sciences laboratory of exploiting athletes and fair play in a reprehensible exchange for international prestige, the narrative behind the scenes makes viewership nearly unpalatable. The act of digesting a previously honorable sporting event, has become an unpleasant experience as the underlying environment and the competitive spirit of the games has regressed to a decrepit level of pithy political correctness. As third world populations continue to struggle for sustenance and are at the mercy of brutal dictatorships, the five rings of togetherness on the flag and the inspiring trumpets theme are supposed to temporarily obscure the global horrors and famine. However, the North Korean athletes under metaphorical gunpoint, “proudly” stride around the track of a sold out stadium packed with a disingenuous and sanctimonious enthusiasm. Bob Costas and the entire sports department are there to capture the staged and contrived storylines that can induce eye vomiting amongst the audience, but the self-serving fortitude of flailing globalists makes everything relative in the hellfires of propaganda assaults.

While the ancient pageantry of the Olympics has been lost to the reality of time and modernity, all is well in the world of stirring individual achievements and playing for the flag of all citizens, as a group of bureaucratic tycoons has decreed that unsavory behavior will not be tolerated. The superficial directive is simply a token and worthless gesture that makes the slow death of a mismanaged celebration of athleticism and goodwill painful and tarnished by misplaced sentiment.
