“Do You Know What A Gun Free Zone Is To A Sicko?” Asks Trump, “THAT’S BAIT.”
Donald Trump says he will eliminate gun free zones, which is where the majority of mass shooting have happened. He was incensed that soldiers on US Military bases aren’t allowed to carry firearms. Referencing the five highly trained soldiers who were slaughtered on a US military base by a lone gunman because they didn’t have weapons, and referencing that the majority of gun violence occurs in places with the strictest gun laws, Trump stated:
“Gun Free Zones On A Military Base? That Ends Immediately! My first day, on my first day it get signed. There are no more gun free zones on military bases!”
While it cannot be proven to be a causal relationship, after a 20 year decline in US gun violence, the US now has the lowest level of gun violence in 2 decades AND, at the same time the highest percentage of gun ownership in the history of the country. The data does not necessarily prove that more guns reduces crime, but it certainly indicates that more guns is clearly not increasing crime and conversely, fewer guns would clearly not reduce crime. He went on to ask:
“How can we expect our soldiers to protect us against those with guns if we don’t allow them to have guns?”
Whatever the answer, strict gun controls on US military bases is, even in the mind of most ardent gun control advocates an absurd measure that needs to be reversed immediately. I’m with you on this one Donald!
