Rock Solid CDC Data Still Being Ignored By The Left
During Obama’s tenure the Centers for Disease Control issued a revealing report that supports the one reason millions of Americans feel the Second Amendment is absolutely critical — self defense.
The results of the research were released in 2013 but since that time few studies have been so supportive of gun rights and the constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms that all Americans are afforded. Yet once again, even after the results of this comprehensive Democrat-generated study revealed conclusively that the Second Amendment was serving the American people, our politicians, who work for us, continued to push their own agenda. Imagine that.

Gun rights advocates have long defended their right to bear arms out of a need for self-defense. This research report from the Centers for Disease Control says they have a good point.
The $10 million study commissioned by President Barack Obama as part of 276 executive orders he signed concluded, “self-defense can be an important crime deterrent.”
Although Obama commissioned the CDC study, and the 2013 findings were released during his tenure, the results seems to have little impact on the direction, policy, or strategy of his gun control campaign. Hopefully that is all about to change.
The findings of the study titled, “Priorities For Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence,” explained that at the time the study concluded, “violent crimes, including homicides specifically, have declined for the past five years.”
In powerful support of self-defense gun rights advocates, researchers found: “Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies.”
The report went on to say that most incidents involving the use of a gun do not result in a fatality: “In 2010, incidents in the U.S. involving firearms injured or killed more than 105,000 Americans, of which there were twice as many nonfatal firearm-related injuries (73,505) than deaths.”
In another revelation from the study, the CDC researchers stated that the majority of firearm deaths are not from homicide, but from suicide, saying suicides account for 61 percent of the more than 335,600 people who died from firearm-related violence in the United States.
The report states that African-American males are most affected by gun-related violence, with “32 per 100,000” deaths. Risk factors and predictors of violence include income inequality, “diminished economic opportunities . . . high levels of family disruption” and “low levels of community participation.”
As for gun control measures having an effect on decreasing casualties, the report expresses uncertainty: “Whether gun restrictions reduce firearm-related violence is an unresolved issue,” and there is no evidence “that passage of right-to-carry laws decrease or increase violence crime.” It also stated that proposed “gun turn-in programs are ineffective.”
Hopefully the Trump camp will listen carefully to these timeless findings and make responsbile changes that will insure the long-term health of our precious Second Amendment.
