House Hysteria over Boebert’s Guns in Zoom Committee Hearing

February 19, 2021 By Dave Workman

Firebrand freshman Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-3rd District) is fighting back against claims she has a “gun fetish” for sitting in on a House Natural Resources Committee hearing via Zoom from her Colorado district office with a pair of modern sporting rifles and a pistol on a shelf in the background.

Anti-gun California Rep. Jared Huffman was quoted by the Washington Post declaring, “If somebody wants to have a shrine to their gun fetish as a Zoom backdrop in their private life, they can do that. But this is our hearing room, and at some point we will get past the COVID epidemic and we’ll all start showing up in person.”

During a Fox News interview, Boebert referred to Huffman as a “creep” and said Democrats’ “disdain for the Constitution was on full display.”

“This was my first committee hearing and the chairman couldn’t stop attacking, degrading, and insulting committee members,” she told Fox News’ Mike Emanuel. “I am busy fighting against the left’s real fetish for power and stripping Americans of their constitutional rights.”

Noting that a large percentage of her district is federal land, she had been eager to participate in the Natural Resources meeting because it would be an opportunity to address concerns of her western Colorado constituents.

According to USA Today, Virginia Democrat Rep. Don Beyer tweeted, “Who were you planning to shoot in a zoom hearing?”

Congresswoman Katie Porter, another California Democrat, said in a tweet she “always thought my dirty dishes piled up and accumulating bacteria were the most dangerous thing in a Zoom background… #SafeStorage”

According to Fox News, Boebert’s reply was just as biting: “It’s kind of alarming that she has so many dishes in her sink collecting bacteria. Do your dishes, Hon.”

“Room Rater” dubbed Boebert a “Fascist fraulein.”

Boebert was blistered with angry tweets, including some from people claiming to be gun owners who criticized the way the firearms were stacked on a bookshelf “ready to slide off.”

And Colorado Democrat State Sen. Kerry Donovan is already campaigning to unseat Boebert, even though the Denver Post revealed she does not live in the Third District. Donovan lives in a Vail condo, the newspaper said. She is one of four Democrats now targeting Boebert.

Boebert has made Second Amendment defense a cornerstone of her Capitol Hill presence, although she has been an outspoken gun rights advocate back home. She told Liberty Park Press in a telephone interview that her start in politics came when she drove for several hours from her home in Rifle on the West Slope to a Beto O’Rourke rally on the East Slope just to tell the anti-gun Texas Democrat, he was not taking her guns. This was two years ago after O’Rourke feverishly declared during a Democrat debate in Houston, “Hell Yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47!” It was the remark that sank his presidential campaign.
