Marketing Fear- The Perpetual Evolving Environmental Movement

February 25, 2022 By Kennedy Guse

Within an ecosystem of “sticks and stones will break my bones, and words will always hurt me” the power and influence of labels and memes act as course approximations in spreading misinformation.

If one earned a Bitcoin for every “could” or “may” that precedes outlandish claims in headlines facilitated by the liberal media such as “…Snowpack could Disappear by 2080”, or “California’s Drought May be Caused By a Prevalence of Turf (and Nancy Pelosi’s fiery glare)”, a new and better earth could be purchased where science and math is actually embraced instead of convenient rhetoric.

The circuitous logic brandishing the original billion term of “global freezing”, followed by a descent down the rabbit hole to “global warming”, “climate change”, and finally to the latest catch phrase of “climate crises” has tinkered with the psychology of the gullibly naive younger generations. With the public education crises in teachers pawning ideology for fact to deliberately obscure spiraling standardized testing scores in the three r’s and maintain an exponentially increasing magnitude of funding, shaping a child’s mind to accept fantasy as truth is as pliable as putty in one’s hands. The unsettling reality that a third of those polled between the ages of 18-24 in a 2018 survey question that the earth is not round, illustrates the effectiveness of propaganda and the prevalence of myths in warping fact to forward an agenda and is indicative of the failing school system inhabited by union goons and intellectual tyrants. (According to flat earthers, there has never actually been a real flight from Sydney, Australia to Santiago, Chile, as they use a conspiracy layered with a conspiracy to distract and change the argument.) Add to this noxious concoction environmental activists pushing junk science, the majority of adults reluctant to apply critical thinking skills, the teeming industry of the environmental movement, and a press that has lost touch with objectivity, and revisionism is running rampant.

Through hysteria and ignorance, “climate crises” has a chilling subheading populated by oblivious individuals of all ages and all demographics. As visceral elements have been jammed into environmental content on all platforms over the last two decades, there are those who identify as “climate hostages”, and apparently feel trapped in the inevitability that sects of humanity, Trump, and corporations have doomed the planet unless drastic measures are taken. Activists and Greta Thunberg aside, half of the common man can recite roughly four commandments chock full of polarizing terms that brusquely oversimplify or misrepresent evidence or physical processes, which gives them a false sense of accomplishment in summarizing the daunting complexities and nuances of earth’s climate, and validates an unhealthy level of fear.

The insufferable concept of the “climate hostage” is especially detrimental on youth, who already face a relentless stream of reeducation in phrases that pay homage to victim culture, through enablement and the distribution of participation trophies and the baleful existence of panic rooms furnished with blankets, stuffed animals and herbal tea. The subculture of radical environmentalism has become so bizarre that “ecopsychology” has emerged to assist individuals in coping with a fate born out of the lens of a fifty year snapshot, rather than billions of years of legacy and data. And the earthly pseudo-psychologists embracing the doctrine of extremism are not shy about accepting a credit card or check, even though they prefer cold hard cash.

As the culture of instant gratification and the 15-second attention span coalesce to form a nebulous mutant, the resulting cult-like groupthink threatens to destroy any credible dogma or basic tenets of legitimate science and research. This is quite a dubious challenge, considering that the information age offers access to a plethora of experiments and studies published through accredited journals or white papers, yet those polluting society with unproven, and reckless hypotheses, are complicit in deliberately corrupting time-tested theories under purely selfish notions. However, merging Freudian principles with an unhealthy worship for the Spotted owl, or (Mississippi) Dusky gopher frog is just another indication that end is on the horizon, and God is getting a good laugh.

Deliberate ignorance perpetuated by sanctimony is a lucrative endeavor, if one is willing to sell their soul in moral posturing. Just ask Al Gore, as the cottage industry of the Green New Deal infects everything from classrooms to legislative chambers, as the average IQ tumbles in the wake of feel-good policy and a glass of warm milk.

Once again, The Simpsons nailed it:
