An alarming Rasmussen survey released Wednesday shows 19 percent of likely U.S. voters would “hand over Israel to Palestinian control in exchange for cheaper gasoline.”
According to Rasmussen, which conducted the survey with Our Republic, 40 percent believe the U.S. government for the current hostilities with Iran, 10 percent blame Israel’s government, and 39 percent think Iran is mostly to blame.
More than three-quarters of Democrats blame the Iran war on either the U.S. government (66%) or Israel’s government (11%), Rasmussen said. Among Independent voters, 41% say the U.S. government is most to blame for the war and 14% blame Israel.
The survey revealed that “Nearly half of voters ages 18 to 24, and 60 percent of those ages 25 to 29, say they would support completely dismantling Israel and replacing it with a Palestinian-led nation in exchange for ending the war and lowering oil and gas prices,” according to Justin Haskins, president and senior fellow at Our Republic.
Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans believe Iran’s government is most to blame for the war between Iran and the United States, but only 15% of Democrats and 33% of unaffiliated voters agree, Rasmussen said in a news release.
While 19 percent of respondents would support dismantling Israel for cheaper gas prices, 58 percent would oppose such a drastic measure, and 22 percent “aren’t sure.”
Overall, 72 percent of Republicans, 42 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of Independent voters are against ending the war to provide the U.S. with low oil and gas prices “in exchange for completely dismantling the nation of Israel and replacing it with a new Palestinian-led nation,” Rasmussen reported.
“These results reveal just how radical the views of many Democrats and young Americans have become when it comes to Israel, Iran, and the war,” Haskins said. “Nearly one-quarter of Democrats either say they want Iran to win or do not care who wins, while 77 percent blame either the United States or Israel for the conflict rather than Iran.”
