Instead of gun control, a Maryland state lawmaker wants to do something different – bring back the death penalty to his state

October 23, 2017 By Rhett Workman

Thanks to last week’s mass shooting at a suburban Baltimore, MD business, a state lawmaker from the community where the tragedy happened . . . instead of wanting more gun control, wants something else – the return of the death penalty to the state.

WJZ-TV is reporting today that Republican state Senator Robert Cassilly, who represents the Harford County area where last Wednesday’s massacre took place, is proposing to reinstate the death sentence in the state as a punishment for certain crimes – such as murders of multiple victims, killing of law enforcement, serial killings, murders as part of a hate crime or during the course of a sexual offense such as rape.

The TV station is reporting that the senator would want the penalty to be carried out via lethal injection using the potent drugs heroin and fentanyl.

Radee Prince, a 37-year old employee of the granite manufacturing business where the shootings took place, killing three and critically wounding two others, has been charged with those crimes and also a separate shooting at a Delaware car lot that left one man wounded.

More from WJZ.
